You're not the only one
Can't sleep
When your mind won't switch off at night.
You're not alone
Trouble sleeping is one of the most common things people carry on their own. You're not broken, and you're far from the only one lying awake. Sleep tends to come back when the conditions are right, not when we force it.
What can help
- Dim the lights an hour before bed. Bright light tells your brain it's still daytime.
- Put the phone down earlier. The issue isn't just the screen, it's the stream of information keeping your mind switched on.
- Try slow breathing: in for four, out for six. The longer exhale settles the nervous system.
- Keep the room cool and dark. A slightly cold room helps you drop off.
- If you're wide awake after 20 minutes, get up, do something dull in low light, and return when sleepy.
